The long-awaited follow-up to Kanye’s last album Jesus Is King could finally be released this weekend, and from the looks of it, the project is jam-packed with a star-studded list of features. The album, DONDA, named after his late mother, was first named God’s Country and has gone through multiple delays apparently due to West’s presidential campaign, lawsuits, and family issues. As we near the alleged release date of Friday, more details are now arising.
The last year has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride for the Chicago native. Following a failed presidential bid that resulted in another public meltdown for West, things continued to seemingly go downhill for the “Wash Us In The Blood” rapper.
The year started off with the news that West and his wife, Kim Kardashian-West, decided to call off their marriage. Although they are divorcing, it’s reported that the two are doing their best to remain cordial and amicable for their children’s sake. Recently, the estranged couple decided to take a trip as a family, according to PEOPLE, as West has reportedly “accepted” that the marriage is over.
“Kim and Kanye are spending time with the kids,” a source told PEOPLE. “Kanye has accepted that Kim wants a divorce. For a long time, it was very hard for him. He was disappointed. He has come around though. He wants the best for his kids. He is keeping things amicable with Kim so the kids can be happy. They have been spending time together as a family.”
In the midst of making sure that his family is well taken care of as he and Kardashian prepare to live out their lives without one another, West has reportedly been hard at his upcoming tenth studio album, Donda. Constant collaborator. close friend, and G.O.O.D. Music affiliate Cyhi the Prince, revealed that West was hard at work at the project in a VladTV interview.
“We’re back working,” said the rapper. “I think he started working on [DONDA] late last year. I think around November, December, January comes around he kinda takes a hiatus—a vacation, break to get with the family.”
Cyhi also addressed how his friend was handling the divorce while working on making the project. “I know how much he loves his family, so it has to hit you some kind of way. He’s getting through it,” said the rapper.
It now looks as though the album is either done or near completion, as Ye and his team have been holding listening events around the country. Select people in Vegas have already been given the opportunity to experience the album, and now on Thursday, West will be at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for another listening event. This follows the pattern of his past albums.
According to attendees, the album is reportedly titled #DONDA and will feature appearances from Post Malone, Baby Keem, Pusha T, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, and Griselda. pic.twitter.com/UFmvvdkTQO

Multiple reports claim that the album includes a track that addresses the dissolving of his marriage. During all the talks of the album’s possible soon release, Chris Brown sent out a cryptic message that appears to insinuate that he is also included on Donda.
“Dat Yeezy and Breezy,” wrote Brown on his Instagram Stories, as captured by The Shade Room. This would not be the first time the pair hopped on a song together. They collaborated on the song “Down” on his Exclusive album, and on “Waves” for West’s The Life of Pablo.
Brown’s post was enough to send fans into a frenzy. “Every time Yeezy and Breezy link, it’s an automatic banger, 2 most talented artists out there,” commented one fan. Another excited fan wrote, “OMFG LESGOOOOOO.”
Meanwhile, some are extremely skeptical that Ye’s album is going to see the light of day, as history has shown that Ye will often make a preemptive announcement with no album coming to fruition on the announced date.
