Michael K. Williams died of a suspected overdose yesterday, September 7th 2021. However, police are suspecting foul play and a search for the drug dealer who sold to him before his passing has begun.
Fans of Michael K. Williams are still saddened at the news of his death. The star of such hit shows as The Wire, Lovecraft County and Boardwalk Empire was found unresponsive yesterday at his Williamsburg Brooklyn apartment by family members who became worried about him after not answering his phone for a while.
Found at the scene with his body was heroin. Williams has been open about his struggle with addiction for years and talked about how he lived a double life as a Hollywood actor by day and drug addict by night. He told The Breakfast Club how he would run off to Newark, NJ, between taping and how he’d go on binges that lasted weeks on end.
While he eventually found some help and stability, it was not enough to keep him on the straight and narrow for long. He was 54 years old at the time of his passing.
Due to the nature of his death and the narcotics found on the premises, New York Police Department is launching an investigation and attempting to find the dealer responsible for selling Williams the drugs.
It’s important to mention, an official autopsy to identify the actual cause of Michael K. Williams’ death hasn’t been completed yet.
