Michael Strahan’s Ex-Wife Demands More Money 15 Years After Winning $15.3M In Divorce Settlement & $18K In Monthly Support

The drama that has followed Michael Strahan following his marriage and now divorce from ex-wife Jean Muggli continues. The divorce proceedings have been all around contentious, filled with damning allegations of abuse. Now new reports are showing that Muggli is not through with the Good Morning America host, as she’s requesting more money.

Former NFL superstar Michael Strahan was first married to his then-girlfriend Wanda Hutchins, an interior designer, in 1992. Their union gave him his first two children, Tanita and Michael Strahan, Jr. A “happily ever after” for the two as a married couple was not in the cards, however, and the couple called it quits in 2006.

Regardless of the relationship with his ex-wife, Michael Strahan remains close with them, especially his children. Strahan told People in an interview, “I think a lot of times when you split, people assume that the mother is supposed to take responsibility for the kids. But from day one, it was very important for me to be active, to be a part of their life. I was constantly on planes and phones. And it’s very hard – of course, it’s hard with them being in Germany. But one thing I learned is, you make time for what you want to make time for.”

Strahan then married Jean Muggli in 1999, and they had fraternal twin daughters. However, their marriage would also end in divorce, but the battle would last for years.

Their divorce and custody battle lived in the headlines. Soon, it was reported that Michael Strahan was accusing his ex-wife of emotional and physical abuse towards their daughters. Muggli would then allege that there were various domestic disputes, a claim that he vehemently denied.

“It’s unfortunate that some marriages don’t always work out for both parties, but that’s a painful reality of the times we live in, he said in a statement reported by the New York Post. “I love my children with all my heart and will continue to be the father figure that I had growing up. I owe it to my daughters to end my marriage respectfully and with dignity.”

Strahan continued, “I would never physically or psychologically harm any of my loved ones, especially my wife. That’s simply not the man I am. I will continue to respect Jean’s privacy and not contribute to a public spectacle of an extremely private matter.”

Their years-long battle would finally find a settlement in 2020, yet there was still the matter of custody. Strahan would later be ordered by the judge to pay over $15 million in the settlement, in addition to over $18k per month for spousal and child support. Strahan and his legal team were able to later get that amount decreased to $13,000/month. Muggli has also filed new documents in court, obtained by Radar Online, motioning her ex-husband to pay for her legal fees. They are still awaiting the judge’s decision on the manner.
