Prayers continue to break Heaven’s gates in the Leakes household and from their friends and supporters. Real Housewives of Atlanta alum NeNe Leakes recently revealed the grim news that her husband, Gregg Leakes, was “transitioning” due to his constant battle with colon cancer. Now their son, Brentt is sharing the heartbreak he’s experiencing during this difficult time.
News of Gregg Leakes’s diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer first hit in 2018. The couple saw victory after Leakes was alerted that his cancer went into remission after successful treatment. However, this summer NeNe revealed the sad news that cancer had returned to Gregg’s body.
“He’s in the hospital. He’s been in the hospital, tomorrow it’ll be a week,” said NeNe of her 67-year-old husband in June to The Jasmine Brand. “I’m sure he’ll be home in about a week or so. He had to have a surgery, [because] his cancer did return.”
NeNe would also go on to reveal that Gregg received that particular surgery, leaving him in the hospital for a 15-day recovery. This time, however, it seems as though Gregg may not be responding well. Due to having cancer, Gregg also lost an incredible amount of weight. If you’ve ever been around somebody who’s had cancer before, he’s different,” said NeNe. “He’s different.”
An emotional NeNe would then solicit prayers from supporters through this difficult time. After stating that she did not intend to reveal the news of his condition until he was home, she requests, “I’d love for everybody to pray for Gregg, that would be beautiful. Pray for his strength,” NeNe said. “And pray for me too.”
Sadly, while addressing patrons at her lounge in Atlanta, The Linnethia, who claimed she was “being rude”, NeNe stated that Gregg’s cancer has worsened with her son alongside.
“My husband is transitioning to the other side,” said NeNe. “You don’t know what we’re dealing with right now. We walked in this lounge because we had to walk in this lounge because this is our business.”
According to reports, the reason she was accused of being rude is that she did not acknowledge the birthday of the patron. “So, when people approach and say, ‘You’re rude because you don’t want to say happy birthday,’ my husband is at home dying. I don’t want to say ‘Happy birthday,’ okay?”
Now speaking up is their son Brentt. Taking to his Instagram Stories, Brentt writes, “Spend time with your loved ones every chance you get. Times is so F****g valuable dog. I can’t express it. I’m learning the hard way watching my dad fight every day. Please go create memories with ya people.”
Continued prayers go up for Nene and Greg’s son and the rest of their family during this time.
