Kanye West’s unorthodox approach to latest album may be frustrating some fans, but he is still racking up money through his livestreams and concert tickets ahead of Donda release.
Fans of Kanye West have to be used to his crazy antics by now. The hip-hop icon has built a career off his left of center approach to music. In recent years he’s taken that approach further, completely changing the way his fans experience his albums. His latest work Donda has found him charting brand new territory and has made him a ton of money.
Named after his late mother, Donda has been a labor of love for Kanye West. One he’s been willing to take fans on an inside journey with. After an original release date announcement of July 24, 2020, Kanye West broke Apple Music viewership records after opting to do a live listening party via their site on the 23rd at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Atlanta.
West was able to bring in 5.4 million viewers and garnered about $7 million dollars in ticket and merch sales from that date alone.
In the time since he’s followed up the initial listening event with a second one on August 5, 2021, again racking in the money in tickets and merch with still no album in sight.

Hype for the new ‘Donda’ album has also drive up sales of West’s existing catalog, with fans running to revisit their old favorites ahead of new music bringing the rapper even more money.

A third listening party was announced to take place in his hometown of Chicago today. West has reportedly been building a replica of his childhood home. Reps from his team speculate the “Donda” album will drop tomorrow but there has been no official confirmation.
Fans anxious to get their hands on the album sooner can head over to Kanyewest.com where he is selling a device with all the albums stems so that they may mix the project themselves for $200.
