Michael K. Williams best known for his breakout role on The Wire has passed at the age of 54.
According to NYPost who first broke the news, Michael K. Williams was found dead in his New York penthouse by a family member. The actor’s nephew claims they hadn’t heard from Williams in a few days and arrived to check on the actor and found him dead in his dining room.
Law enforcement officers are claiming the actor passed away from an apparent overdose after drug drug paraphernalia was found on a table.
Michael K. Williams has appeared in many Television projects, but his role as Omar on the Wire catapulted the actor’s career – leading him to other projects including Lovecraft Country and 12 Years A Slave and five Emmy nominations.
Williams is survived by his son, Elijah.
