R. Kelly is accused of giving a girl herpes when she was only 17 years old, then shaming her when she complained about the pain during intercourse.
R. Kelly’s trial is proving to be every bit of the mess that a was expecting. The embroiled R&B star took the stand this week in a Brooklyn courtroom to defend himself against a barrage of claims including racketeering, sexual abuse and bribery.
Taking the stand as well were several victims of R. Kelly, prepped to tell their truth in hope of keeping the former abuser behind bars.
A Florida woman testified against R. Kelly and recounted the story of her encounter with him. Identified only as Jane, the now 23 year old recalled the time she met him and went to see him at his hotel room following a concert and how he gave her herpes.
Jane was only 17 at the time and recalls R. Kelly asking her to undress and had sex with her before police came to the door. The girls parents had called 911 when they realized their daughter was missing.
Horrified, she realized the police were on Kelly’s side after looking at her ID and pretending to not see her age. Even worst, they offered their services to R. Kelly if he was ever in need of security again in Orlando.
Soon after, Jane realized that R. Kelly had gave her herpes. Despite contracting the STI, she continued to see him and traveled from city to city following his concerts on the superstars dime.
Jane confessed that when she confronted R. Kelly about the herpes, he seemed deflective and told her she could have gotten it from anyone. Jane told the court she felt he gave her herpes on purpose and that when she complained about the extreme pain during intercourse he told her that her “p**** is broken”.
